The National Gear Rules were developed for Pony Club Australia using the guiding principles of rider safety and horse welfare. The process of development included significant consultation with representatives from across Australia.
The National Gear Check Rules are not just an extra set of rules, but are meant to have a consistency across all states and to “Provide a safe environment for members, volunteers and spectators.”
There are two main aspects to the national gear cheque system.
The first aspect pertains to riders and. parents that they have an understanding of the various aspects of safety in regard to the gear that they are using.
The second aspect pertains to instructors and helpers on the ground that they are able to ensure that riders are adhering to the principles of our national gear cheque system. In this way they are able to provide for a safe and enjoyable environment for riders and spectators on the grounds
